The Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) will begin a pilot of its new telephone scheduling process on October 8, 2020. UIA has been working closely with the Secretary of State to mirror their appointment process, beginning with phone appointments and transitioning to in-person appointments when the Local Offices open.
During the two week pilot, specific customers with pending concerns will be invited to schedule a phone appointment.
These new phone appointments are reserved only for addressing issues that require speaking with a customer service agent.
Phone appointments are available for the following claimant issues:
- I filed under the wrong Social Security Number
- My claim is inactive
- I am unable to certify for all weeks needed
- I need to file a claim, but one is already filed in my name
- I don’t have the link in MiWAM to file a claim
There will be a limited number of appointments available and the process for handling those outside of the scope of the 5 listed topics will be the same as the phone agents currently use.
Phone scheduling will be open to all UIA customers (with one of the 5 issues) on October 21, 2020, via a link on the UIA website.
