Recognizing the need for a change, Jasmine set her sights on a brighter future. With the guidance and support of SEMCA Michigan Works, she started on her path to skill enhancement and career advancement. Jasmine enrolled at Latitude Training Center, where she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her studies, completing the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program in just over a month.

In February 2024, Jasmine’s hard work paid off when she secured a position with E-Shyft Staffing as a certified CNA, earning an impressive $21 per hour. This substantial increase in wage not only lifted Jasmine out of financial hardship but also provided her with the stability and security she needed to support her family independently. No longer reliant on food stamps, Jasmine was able to provide for her children with dignity and pride.

As a certified CNA, Jasmine found fulfillment in her work, knowing that she was making a difference in the lives of others. Her dedication and passion did not go unnoticed. Tiwana Bryant, Program Coordinator at the Southgate AJC, praised Jasmine stating she was “an ideal student with a positive attitude, prompt, and communicates well. She is inquisitive and would be an asset to any healthcare organization.”

Today, Jasmine enjoys the flexibility of her role, with the freedom to choose her own hours and shifts, allowing her to balance her career with her responsibilities as a single parent. Her success story serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges, proving that with determination and support, anyone can overcome adversity and achieve their dreams.
