ES and TAA programs helped Brazleton Start a New Career
Loretta Brazleton started her career at Technicolor in Livonia, Michigan in Dec 1995. She was employed as a Material Handler until she was laid off in January of 2014. She was making $13.00 per hour at the time of her lay-off.
She attended the TAA Orientation/TAA Registration on April 3, 2014. She completed her academic assessment and her Career Workshops in early July 2014. It was during her extensive career exploration that she seriously considered pursuing training to prepare for a career as a Massage Therapist. She continued with her research exploring labor market information and job availability in Michigan. She was satisfied with the 20% growth outlook for that field and proceeded researching schools for the training.
After researching three schools, Loretta choose to pursue Everest Institute’s Massage Therapy Certificate Program. She started the program on September 10, 2014.
Loretta maintained a 4.0 G.P.A throughout her training program.
Loretta successfully completed her training on June 24, 2015 and received a Diploma in Massage Therapy. She applied for a massage therapist position with LaVida Massage while in training, was hired and started on June 24, 2015 – the very day she completed her training.
Her starting wage at LaVida Massage is $17.00. She is earning more than she was at the time of her layoff!
Loretta indicated that she found it challenging to re-direct her thoughts and her life to focus completely on her homework and attending class to ensure success.
Loretta shared her philosophy for success, “A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.”
