Justin Skibin, SEMCA Business Services Representative, Honored by Michigan Works! Association


LANSING, Mich. – Justin Skibin of SEMCA Michigan Works! was awarded a “Shining Star” Award by the Michigan Works! Association for his efforts to meet employment needs in Monroe and Wayne counties.  Skibin recently received the award during the Association’s annual conference.


Skibin, who works out of SEMCA’s Livonia American Job Center, is a tremendous asset to the workforce development system both locally and across the SEMCA region.

“Justin has consistently shone brightly and made memorable, positive impressions in the lives of customers and employers alike,” said Ryan Hundt, chief executive officer of the Michigan Works! Association. With Justin’s impressive resilience and can-do attitude, he has been able to place numerous customers in jobs that have led to meaningful careers.”

Skibin has a reputation for going above and beyond to assist his clients, treating each one with care and respect.

“Justin is known for his ardent communication with employers that results in new partnerships, trainings, and placement opportunities,” said Greg Pitoniak, CEO of SEMCA Michigan Works!. “As a result of his extensive hands-on efforts last year, 21 of Justin’s employer partners were awarded funds to participate in the Going PRO Talent Fund.  As Justin so excellently lives is professional life in service to developing the workforce of our region, it is fitting to call him a Shining Star indeed!”

Skibin said he is honored to receive this award.

“I am honored to receive the 2021 Shining Star Award,” said Skibin.  “I truly appreciate being able to assist so many constituents on a daily basis, and it wouldn’t be possible without the EDSI and SEMCA Michigan Works! staff.  I am truly honored.”

Established in 1987, the Michigan Works! Association fosters high-quality employment and training programs serving employers and workers by providing support activities and a forum for information exchange for Michigan’s talent development system.
