What Type of Training is Provided?
Training is provided by the Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance (MiCHWA) which supports CHW education, training and workforce needs.
- The 12-week virtual CHW training program consists of 8 weeks of basic CHW skills and 4 weeks of behavioral healthcare training. A 40-hour in-person internship is required to receive the Certified Community Health Worker credential.
- Training is online and includes interactive activities, group projects, individual presentations, communication skills practice, lectures, and assessments.
Navigators will help you access support services, set career goals, identify relevant education and training opportunities, and complete requirements for college admissions and financial aid.
